Shark Tank |
Spring 2021 |
Students create their own original products for market to prepare for a Shark Tank pitch (inspired by the TV show). In addition to a Marketing Portfolio (Humanities) and Engineering Plan (Physics), 9th graders use linear and exponential models, spreadsheets and data visualizations to calculate profit projections and investigate the cost of sustainability.

Here is a peek into the lessons that accompanied this project. In this specific lesson, students navigated through the Desmos activity Exponential vs. Linear: What Comes Next? to make sense of the graphical similarities and differences across these two function types. This knowledge enabled students to later
create data visualizations that clearly communicated their business plan to potential "investors". |
